October 07, 2020 | Women's Golf
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mississippi State women's golf team closed out The Blessings Collegiate Invitational by posting a final round score of 313.
"Given the circumstances of everything these last few months, I'm so proud of our team for the way they handled themselves on a tough course this week", said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "Clara Moyano was our top golfer throughout the entire event, and this is a credit to the hard work she put in the last few months. She has done an incredible job improving her game and preparing for this season."
The Bulldogs ended the three-round event at the Blessings Golf Club by carding a total of 938 and finishing 13th.
Senior Clara Moyano led the Bulldogs with her third consecutive round score of 75 to finish the event 9-over par and tied for 23rd. Redshirt sophomore Hannah Levi improved her score once again, also shooting 3-over par in the final round to tie for 51st. Levi climbed 11 spots in the leaderboard after a tough first round.
Junior Lauren Miller had the highlight of the day, as she sank a hole in one on Hole 3. She finished the day with a 9-over par and ended the event tied for 58th. Senior Aubree Jones-Wilkes shot 10-over par 82 during the final round and rolled in five birdies over the course of the event to finish tied for 60th place.
Sophomore Abbey Daniel posted her first eagle of the season to tie for 63rd.
Our team competed to the end, and our girls hit some big-time shots today," said Brown-Lemm. "Lauren Miller sank a hole in one, while Abbey Daniel shot an eagle all in the final round of this competitive event. I am looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for our home event later this month."
Mississippi State returns to action on Monday, Oct. 19, for the Bulldogs' home event at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. The home event, now known as The Ally, is in honor of former Mississippi State golfer Ally McDonald Ewing.
