Women’s Golf Improves on Final Day of The Ally

WEST POINT, Miss. – Mississippi State women's golf improved their skills in the final round of The Ally at Old Waverly Golf Club on Wednesday. The Bulldogs carded a season-best round of 291 to finish in 11th place.
"The team handled today with fire and tenacity," said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "They posted 17 total birdies as a team. We are proud of the team for fighting back and working hard at the end. We have a lot to build off of as we prepare for the final event of the fall schedule."
Tied for 9th place, sophomore Ashley Gilliam posted her second consecutive even par round, maintaining her 1-under score for the event. She rolled in four birdies for the day, as did three other Bulldogs.
Sophomore Abbey Daniel also completed an even par day with four birdies, tying her for 29th place, while senior Valeria Mendizabal tied for 53rd after shooting 4-over in the final round.
Senior Blair Stockett rolled in 5 total birdies on the last day to tie for 56th with an even score for the round. Senior Clara Moyano shot a 3-over 75, with an overall score of 230, to tie for 59th.
Mississippi State returns to action on Friday, Nov. 6, to compete in the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate hosted by Georgia. The Bulldogs will travel to Athens for the weekend to close out their fall season.
