Bulldogs Tied for Second After First Round at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic

ATHENS, Ga. – Following the first round of play, the Mississippi State women's golf team finished the day in a four-way tie for second place at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic. The Bulldogs shot 4-over for a score of 292.

Senior Blair Stockett and junior Hannah Levi finished the day tied for eighth place with an even par score. Levi started the day off strong, rolling in three birdies in the first six holes. Stockett was the most consistent Bulldog in the round, shooting for par or better on 17 holes.

"I was really happy with the way that I played today," said Stockett. "Staying patient was the key for me, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow. We've put ourselves into a great position for the rest of the event."

Tied for 12th place, senior Clara Moyano wasn't far behind her teammates with a 1-over par 73 score for the day after recording five birdies.

Shooting 3-over par for the day, sophomore Abbey Daniel is tied for 28th place after round one, while sophomore Ashley Gilliam shot 5-over par 77 to tie for 46th place.

"I hit some really good shots today," said Levi. "making me able to capitalize on opportunities early on. It's encouraging to see my game trending in the right direction. I'm really excited to get out and play tomorrow."

The Bulldogs are set to compete in the second round of event on Saturday. State will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Fans can follow along with the live scoring at GolfStat.com.
