Head Coach Ben Howland
Q: When you watch film on Oklahoma, what things grab your attention?
BH: "They're very, very good offensively, number one. They can shoot it. They have both of their bigs, for example, starting with number 21 [Kristian] Doolittle. He's fourth in the league in scoring, fifth in the league in rebounding and top five in field goal percentage in offense. He was the most improved player in the Big 12, which was voted by the coaches last season. He's just really skilled. He's shooting over 40 percent on the year from three. Really odd, he shot over 40 percent as a freshman, took about five threes his sophomore and junior year, and now he's shooting them again. He shoots the ball really well. He's a very good passer.
"[Jamal] Bieniemy is a tall 6-5 point guard, takes six shots per game. He's shooting 50 percent of his shots from three. In the conference now, he's 7-for-15. He's a better shooter than what he's shown on the year, but he's shooting at the way he's capable of now and has a lot of confidence. Their two guard, number 12 [Austin] Reaves, he's a transfer from Wichita State out in Arkansas. He's a redshirt junior, which is like he's a senior and is very skilled. They run a lot of sets through him as a point. He shot 46-plus percent as a sophomore, which led the AAC through conference games from three. He can really shoot the ball. He's a good passer. He creates off the dribble. He's only shooting 25 percent, which is surprising for what a good looking shot he has. We don't want to let him get it going against us. He's very capable. When I say him in their game at Wichita State when they played there, he shot it great. He's a very good shooter and player.
"Then [Brady] Manek is really the lynch pen there because he's a guy who's shooting 52 percent from the three. He's really spacing the floor, has a quick release and is really hard to guard. He had seven three's last Saturday against TCU in the game. He had four or five against Baylor in the game they had the chance to win with a corner three in the last 10 seconds of the game down one. They have good players coming off the bench. [Jalen] Hill is a good player coming off the bench. The two bigs that come off. [Number] 52 [Kur Kuath] has an Amare Stoudemire type body. He's really active with flying down the middle for dunks.
"They play defense when they're trying to make jump shots and not allow anything around the basket. They're taking away the paint to the best of their ability. They'll double sometimes in the post. They play ball screens sometimes different ways. They'll play a three-two zone at times. They've got a lot of things. He [Lon Kruger] is a great coach, a hall of fame coach."
Q: Do you bring up to the team this could be a quad one win?
BH: "We don't have to. Every game we're playing is critically important to our season, as every game is. The later you get in the season, it even magnifies it more. We're playing a Power-5 conference team that will be in the NCAA Tournament in their home state. It's going to be a great opportunity for us against a great team that's very well coached and very talented."
Q: What have you seen from Reggie Perry from the start of the season to these last couple of weeks?
BH: "I love it when he gets to the foul line more. I think he's doing that and being aggressive. A part of that is from our whole team being more patient offensively and recognizing that we're at our best when we play through him and through the post. He's an unbelievably willing passer. Really in reality, he's a pass-first guy. That's what he really wants to do. He's a very good passer, so playing through the post and us getting him the ball more and getting him more touches. A big part of it is we're doing a better job of scheming and taking advantage of a really special talent."
Q: How would you assess how much better Nick Weatherspoon has gotten from his first game versus New Mexico State to now?
BH: "He's always been limited on turnovers. He's always been good about not turning the ball over. He's really grown into his role of being that floor general and creating for others. Almost to the detriment that he's not looking for a shot when it's opened. So, we still have to get him to do that, because he's a very good scorer. I'm really proud of the growth that he's showing as a point guard and you can see his potential. He's picking up ceilings. He has a great ceiling ahead of him that he can get to as a point, so I'm really excited about how he's playing. Again, he always paves the defense. He's the guy stopping the ball every time no matter who's pushing it. He's a huge part of getting our defense set so we're not giving up things in transition. A big part of that is stopping that ball."

De'Vion Harmon (8.3 PPG, 2.1 APG, 1.4 SPG) has been inserted into the starting lineup during the last three games for the Sooners. He scored a Big 12 season's best 13 points aided by a trio of three-pointers versus Kansas on 01/14.
