State earns fifth top-10 ranking of the preseason in the USA Today/Coaches Poll

STARKVILLE – For the fifth time this preseason, the Mississippi State baseball program has reeled in a top-10 ranking from a national publication. The USA Today/Coaches Poll tabbed the Bulldogs No. 6 entering the 2020 campaign.

State now ranks among the top 10 in each of the five preseason polls released, sitting No. 6 in the College Baseball Newspaper and USA Today polls, No. 8 according to Perfect Game, No. 9 by Baseball America and No. 10 in D1Baseball's rankings. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association is the final preseason poll and will be released in the coming weeks.

Eight of the Diamond Dawgs opponents will enter the season ranked, including five among the 12 teams in USA Today's rankings. Along with non-conference opponents Oregon State (No. 25) and Texas Tech (No. 3), six of the 10 SEC opponents on the schedule will begin the season with a ranking beside their name: Arkansas (No. 5), LSU (No. 12), Auburn (No. 9), Ole Miss (No. 23), Texas A&M (No. 21) and Vanderbilt (No. 1).

Overall, the SEC boasts nine ranked teams, with Georgia (No. 4) and Florida (No. 10) also earning a spot in USA Today preseason poll.

The Bulldogs open the 2020 season with a three-game series at Dudy Noble Field against Horizon League champion Wright State from Feb. 14-16. The season opener is slated for 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. The series continues with a 2 p.m. start on Saturday, Feb. 15 and 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday, Feb. 16.

While reserved seating season tickets are sold out for the 34th straight season, general  admission/standing room only season tickets are available for a cost of $199.

New for the 2020 season, the Mobile Access Pass will provide access to unused chairback seats at Dudy Noble Field. The Mobile Access Pass provides a GA/SRO ticket for all games on the 2020 home schedule, while also offering upgraded access on a game-by-game basis to the unused chairback seats for all home weekend series – excluding Super Bulldog Weekend. The cost for the Mobile Access Pass is $225.
