Bulldogs Battle Stout Competition in Second Round

NORMAN, Okla. – Mississippi State women's golf finished the second round of the Schooner Fall Classic on Saturday at the Belmar Golf Club, shooting 4-over for a score of 284 and to sit at sixth going into the final round.
"I'm excited about the resilience we showed today," said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "They never gave up and finished strong. The tough hole placements did not allow us to take advantage of lesser wind, but we showed maturity in our patience and our process. We are a good final round team and we've put ourselves in a position to have a really great final round."
Still leading the Bulldogs, senior Clara Moyano shot 1-over for the day carding a score of 71 putting her tied for fourth place.
Freshman Ashley Gilliam , who tied is currently tied 25th in the event, also shot 1-over par for the day (71), while junior Aubree Jones was 2-over par (72) in the opening round, tying her for 36th.
Tied for 49th, freshman Abbey Daniel moved 16 spots up the leaderboard shooting even for the day, while junior Blair Stockett shot 7-over (77) to tie for 72nd.
Athena Yang, competing in the individual position, is tied for 46th and shot just 1-over par for the day.
State returns to the course Sunday morning for the final round, teeing off at 8:30 a.m. CT.
