STARKVILLE – Annemarie Pimentel was the go-to girl to get a goal, especially under pressure.
While playing at Mississippi State from 1997-2000, she tallied ten assists, including five on game-winning goals. The midfielder from Knoxville, Tennessee, would go on to write her name in MSU's career record book in three categories.
Pimentel's freshman season saw her post State's single-season record for game-winning assists. She tallied five of them. Her first career goal was also a game-winner in a 2-0 victory against Tulane in the 1997 season. She then assisted the season-opening goal for fellow all-time teammate Meredith Riekert.
The sophomore star helper would continue collecting assists on meaningful goals in the 1998 season. She set up Krissa Dobbins' lone career goal in a 3-0 win against Samford. Later in the season, Pimentel came back on late in the game to score the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime victory against Southwest Missouri.
Pimentel is also tied for tenth in program history with 10 career assists. She ranks fifth in games played (78), with 67 starts. In the 1998 season, Pimentel was one of only four players to start all 18 matches.
Although she is mostly known for her assists, she collected 18 points over her career with four goals, including three game-winners. Her game-winners have her just outside the career leaderboard, where she would rank 12th.
Off the field, Pimentel earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll every year and twice earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
When she wrapped up her Bulldog soccer career in 2000, Pimentel was second only to Riekert in game-winning assists and second to Angie DeLage in total assists. The trio of midfielders were all named to the Bulldogs' all-time team this season.
