STARKVILLE – Week Two of the NFL season has come to a close, and it is time to take a look at how the 29 former Bulldogs who have gone #FromStateToSundays fared.
Cornerback Darius Slay lived up to the nickname "Big Play Slay" on Saturday with a fourth-quarter interception in the end zone to secure a 13-10 victory for Detroit over the Los Angeles Chargers. Slay added five tackles and two passes defended in the victory. The interception was the 18th of his career and his ninth pick in the fourth-quarter. No other cornerback in the NFL has more fourth-quarter interception since 2014.
Quarterback Dak Prescott turned in another dominating performance to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 31-21 come-from-behind victory at Washington. Prescott threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns, which included a span of 18-straight completions. He added 69 yards on the ground, which included a 42-yard run late in the second quarter, which was the longest by a quarterback in Cowboys' history. Prescott now has seven passing touchdowns in the first two games this season, which is the most by a Cowboys quarterback since 1966.
Bulldog defenders turned in impressive performances throughout Sunday's slate of week two games. Denico Autry recorded four tackles, including two sacks, and forced a fumble in Indianapolis' 19-17 victory at Tennessee. Pernell McPhee totaled three tackles, including two for loss, and closed the first half with a sack to help Baltimore to a 23-17 victory versus Arizona. Preston Smith continued to thrive in a Packers uniform with two tackles, one quarterback hurry and his first interception in Green Bay for a 21-16 victory versus Minnesota.
Deion Calhoun made his NFL debut on Miami's offensive line over the weekend, joining defensive end Montez Sweat, offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins and safety Johnathan Abram as the fourth Bulldog rookie to make his NFL debut this season.
