Martinez Begins U.S. Amateur Play Monday at Pinehurst

STARKVILLE – With the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship concluded at Old Waverly Golf Club, the home of the Mississippi State golf family, it's time for men's golf student-athlete Daniel Martinez to prove himself at the men's tournament.
The rising redshirt sophomore will tee off U.S. Men's Amateur Championship play Monday and Tuesday for two rounds of stroke play. The top 64 players will advance to match play, which runs from August 14-18.
Live scoring will be available via USGA.org.
Martinez earned a spot in the event after finishing tied for second with an even par score at the Colorado Golf Association's qualifier in Fort Collins, Colorado on July 8.
Martinez redshirted the 2018-19 season, his first year at MSU, after transferring from Penn State, where he played in seven rounds for the Nittany Lions as a freshman.
