Diamond Dawgs in College Baseball Summer Leagues

Sophomore quartet slated to play in Cape Cod Baseball League
STARKVILLE – After making its 11th trip to the College World Series and seeing a school-record-tying 11 selections in the 2019 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, the Mississippi State baseball program his sent a handful of student-athletes to play summer baseball in various leagues around the country.

A total of 10 Diamond Dawgs will spread out around the east coast to compete five different summer baseball leagues, including four slated to play in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Of the four student-athletes slated to participate in the Cape Cod Baseball League, three of them are currently attending the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Trials, vying for a spot on the 2019 Collegiate National Team.

The sophomore trio of Tanner Allen, Rowdey Jordan and Jordan Westburg were all slated to suit up for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks and former Mississippi State baseball head coach/Hyannis assistant coach Ron Polk this summer, however Allen and Westburg are currently attending the Collegiate National Team trials. Sophomore Justin Foscue was fourth member of the MSU squad schedule to play in the Cape, as his assignment was with the Wareham Gatemen. Foscue is currently at the Collegiate National Team trials, as well.

The freshman catching duo of Luke Hancock and Hayden Jones also headed east, with Hancock playing for the Coastal Plain League's High Point-Thomasville Hi-Toms and Jones suiting up for the Newport Gulls of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

The Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League will serve as home for a trio of MSU rookies, as Bryce Brock, Eric Cerantola and Landon Jordan will all suit up for the New York based squad this summer.

Finally, the Valley League will host the final Diamond Dawg in summer ball, as freshman Hunter Blalock will play for the Strasburg (Va.) Express.
