AUSTIN, Texas – Two fifth-year seniors were in action for Mississippi State on the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas. Tiffany Flynn and Logan Boss both earned All-American status to close their storied careers.
Both women hold the indoor and outdoor school records in their events along with the MSU freshman records.
"[Jumps coach] Steve Thomas has done an incredible job with the two of them," interim head coach Chris Woods said. "Both of those young women have catapulted the program into the national conversation. We've proven we can compete on the national level, and those young ladies are a big reason why we can recruit the caliber of athletes we can on the national level. They have helped set up a very bright future for this program in the coming years."
Flynn finished eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.32m (43-8.5). She scored MSU's lone point on the women's side of the competition. The Ellenwood, Georgia, native earned First-Team All-American honors for the fourth time in her career. Her leap was nearly identical to her junior year when she placed eighth with a 13.31m (43-8.0) jump in 2017.
"Tiffany's had an exceptional career," Woods added. "She's exemplified how to carry yourself as a student-athlete, doing well both academically and athletically as well. It's been a pleasure to work with her. I personally recruited her, and I'm so thankful she chose to trust MSU with her education and her talent."
Boss who won a bronze medal in the high jump at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships, finished tied for 12th in the event this year. The O'Brien, Florida, native cleared 1.78m (5-10.0) on her third attempt.
"Just like Tiffany, she is a walking example of what it truly means to be a student-athlete," Woods said. "Logan's had several academic accolades and several athletic accolades, being a four-time All-American and finishing in the top three in the conference multiple times."
MSU finished tied for 65th as a team. The 2019 outdoor season saw four women's school records fall along with two freshman records. The Bulldogs added 14 new marks to the program's all-time outdoor Top Five.
