STARKVILLE – For the Mississippi State men's and women's golf teams, there's no place like home.
On Wednesday, May 9, Golf Digest named Mississippi State golf's two home courses, Old Waverly Golf Club and Mossy Oak Golf Club, in its list of America's 100 Greatest Public Courses.
Old Waverly Golf Club came in at No. 60, while Mossy Oak Golf Club followed right behind at No. 63.
The two courses are separated only by Waverly Road, as they sit across from each other in West Point, Mississippi.
The golf programs' shared state-of-the-art practice facility, affectionately known as "the Barn," is located at Mossy Oak Golf Club.
Each year, MSU plays host to its home events at Old Waverly. The women's program hosts the Magnolia Invitational during the fall, while the men's program welcomes teams to the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in the spring. The men's and women's teams each earned top-5 finishes at Old Waverly in the 2018-19 campaign.
MSU women's golf closed the book on its 2018-19 season Wednesday, concluding play at the NCAA Norman Regional as the program made its first appearance in the NCAA Championships since 2015. The men's team is set to make its second consecutive postseason regional run, as the Golf Dawgs start play in the NCAA Louisville Regional Monday, May 13.
