STARKVILLE – Carly Mauldin, who started every match Mississippi State played over the past four years, is continuing her playing career overseas this summer.
The midfielder from Laurel, Mississippi, has begun playing with NJS Nurmijärven Jalkapalloseura in Finland.
Mauldin made her debut in a 4-1 victory on May 18. She scored her first goal on May 25 in the team's next game, a 2-0 victory.
"My four years at MSU completely prepared me for this moment." Mauldin said. "All the fitness, practices and games got me here. Thank you to the coaches that believed in me and pushed me to be my best."
She closed her collegiate career tied for seventh in school history with 72 starts, and her 6,545 career minutes are fifth all-time. Mauldin was tied for third on the team with four goals in 2018, despite entering the season with just one career tally.
"I was surrounded by players that challenged me daily," Mauldin continued. "MSU made me the player I am today, and without everyone's help I would not be playing in Finland."
Her nine points were a career best and tied for fourth on the team. The former Bulldog earned a Second Team All-SEC selection and Third Team All-Region honors.
