Mangum selected by D1Baseball for his second midseason All-America honor
STARKVILLE – For the second time in 2019, Mississippi State baseball senior Jake Mangum earned a midseason honor, this time earning Midseason All-America honors from D1Baseball.
 Â
Earlier this week, Perfect Game tabbed Mangum a first-team midseason All-American and sophomore Jordan Westburg as second-team midseason All-American, while freshman JT Ginn earned the publication's Midseason Freshman of the Year Award.
Â
Arguably the best leadoff hitter in the NCAA, Mangum has posted a hit in 26 of 30 games this, including 19 multi-hit games. The Pearl, Mississippi, native, continues his assault on the Mississippi State and SEC career hits list, moving into No. 2 at MSU and No. 7 on the SEC's all-time hits chart. His 58 hits in 2019 lead the nation, while his .417 batting average is No. 2 in the conference and No. 18 nationally.
Â
Mangum enters the fourth weekend of SEC play with 333 career hits, which is No. 2 all-time at State. His total is No. 6 in SEC history and he is just three hits away from eclipsing Jeffrey Rea (335; 2004-07) for the career hits mark at MSU, which would move him into No. 4 on the conference's all-time ledger. He is just 20 hits away from supplanting LSU's Eddy Furniss (352; 1995-98) as the SEC's hit king.

Mississippi State kicks off a three-game set at Tennessee with a 5:30 CT first pitch on Friday, April 5. The series continues at 5 p.m. CT start on Saturday, April 6, before finishing up with a 1 p.m. CT first pitch on Sunday, April 7.
