Children’s of Mississippi Kid Coach of the Week: Sybil Cumberland
March 07, 2019 | Baseball
Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Mississippi State Bulldogs to salute pediatric patients. Their inspirational stories remind us just how truly courageous these young people are.
This week's Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is Sybil Cumberland of Preston.
When she was only two-and-a-half months old, Sybil's parents, Jason and Tara, rushed her to the ER because she was struggling to breathe. Unbeknown to anyone, Sybil was born with several holes in her heart, and she was going into congestive heart failure.
Sybil came to Batson Children's Hospital for open heart surgery to repair the holes. Four months later, age at six-and-a-half months, she had her second, final surgery.
Thanks to her team at Children's of Mississippi, Sybil's surgeries went well and she's never looked back. Today, she is a healthy, thriving little girl who loves to dance and play T-ball.
Have fun at Saturday's game, Sybil! Your friends at Children's of Mississippi are cheering for you!
