Grimwood Tied For Fourth After First Round Of Evans Derby Experience

OPELIKA, Ala. —Ela Grimwood is tied for fourth after six birdies in the first round of the Evans Derby Experience at the Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Alabama.

Grimwood rolled in four puts on the front nine to find herself 2-under par (70) and just two strokes off the lead.

"Today I went out there and committed to every shot," said Grimwood. "The golf course was very fun to play, and after the first nine I felt everything click into gear. It was really exciting to see shots land close, and putts role in. I'm very excited for the rest of the tournament and to see what we can do as a team."

The Bulldogs are tied for eighth in the team rankings with a score of 6-over par (294). They are just eight shots off the lead.

Sophomore Aubree Jones finished day one tied for 21^st. She found a trio of birdies on the front nine to help her to 1-over par (73).

Sophomore Blair Stockett is just behind Jones at 2-over par (74) and tied for 30^th.

Freshman Hannah Levi is tied for 56^th with a 5-over par (77), and senior Katie Holt is tied for 73^rd finishing the first round 8-over par (80).

Junior Clara Moyano, who is competing as an individual, is tied with teammate, Levi for 56^th.

Arkansas is in the lead with a 3-under par 288, while Florida's Clara Manzalini and Baylor's Gurleen Kaur are tied for the individual lead.

The action will resume Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CT with Holt teeing off No. 1.
