State To Host Saturday Home-Opening Doubleheader Against Alcorn State

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's tennis opens a seven-match homestand on Saturday in its season-opening doubleheader against Alcorn State (0-2) at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The Bulldogs (2-2) look to improve on a 30-match winning streak in non-conference contests at home. Under 10th-year head coach Daryl Greenan, MSU is 74-34 (.685) in non-conference matches. Admission to all MSU home matches is free.
"We are excited to play at home in front of our fans," said Greenan. "The Pitts Tennis Centre is one of the best places to play and watch a college match. We look forward to showcasing our talent tomorrow."
Bulldogs In The Oracle ITA Rankings …
Two Bulldogs hold top 60 national spots in singles and doubles. State sophomore Magda Adaloglou rests in the No. 56 singles spot, holding a 7-8 overall singles mark through fall tournament play and four dual matches. True freshman Emma Antonaki stays steady as the 55th-ranked player nationally, boasting an 11-6 overall record in singles action, including a straight-set ousting of Washington's 25th-ranked Vanessa Wong in the fall. Adaloglou and Antonaki partner as the No. 57 tandem in the Oracle ITA rankings, holding an overall 5-2 ledger with two top 60 triumphs during tournament play.
Know The Foe: Alcorn State
MSU's lone in-state, non-conference opponent this season was 0-2 heading into a Friday afternoon contest against New Orleans. ASU comes off an 8-15 dual match record in 2018, 4-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
State is 6-0 all-time against the Braves, meeting on Saturday for the seventh time. The series dates back to 2014. The Bulldogs last downed ASU on March 3, 2018, in a 4-0 sweep.
