STARKVILLE – For just the fourth time in Mississippi State history, a Bulldog running back was selected to The Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference football first team as junior Kylin Hill earned the honor on Monday. Senior defensive end Chauncey Rivers was also recognized by the AP, earning second-team status.
Hill, the SEC's leading rusher and Conerly Trophy winner this season, joins Wayne Jones (1973), Walter Packer (1974) and Anthony Dixon (2009) as the only running backs in MSU history to earn first-team All-SEC honors from the AP.
A product of Columbus, Mississippi, Hill led the SEC in rushing with 1,347 yards and 10 touchdowns, including 132 yards on 27 carries in a 21-20 victory for the Bulldogs against Ole Miss in the 92nd annual Battle for the Golden Egg on Thanksgiving.
Hill finished the regular season with eight 100-yard rushing games, tying the single-season school record. He is just 45 rushing yards away from setting the school single-season record, which is currently owned by Dixon (1,391 in 2009).
Rivers leads the Bulldogs in sacks (5.0) and tackles for loss (7.5) this season. He is also tops on the team and 10th in the SEC in total pressures (29).
This is the second straight season that a State defensive end has earned All-SEC honors from the AP. Montez Sweat was named to the first team in 2017 and 2018.
Tickets for the Music City Bowl are on sale now at HailState.com/bowltickets. MSU's ticket allotment and team bench is located on the east side of Nissan Stadium. Reserved lower level tickets are $85, while 200 level club seats are available for $120.
