STARKVILLE – One of the most consistent players in school history, Bethany Frazier started 75 of Mississippi State's 76 matches over her career and never missed a game.
In her first season in Starkville, she was one of just three players to start every match. Over her 19 matches, she fouled just four times, the fewest of any Bulldog regular. Frazier was played the full match 16 times and scored her first career goal against Alabama that year.
Armed with plenty of experience, she took a lead role in her sophomore year, leading the Bulldogs with 1,512 minutes in the field and averaging 84 minutes per match in 2006. That year saw the Madison, Mississippi, native transform into the offensive threat she would be known for on the back line. In the second match of the year, she recorded the first of her 11 career assists against Rice.
Against a Georgia team that was ranked in some polls, she found the back of the net just five minutes into the match. Two days later, she was instrumental in the Bulldogs' upset of No. 8 Tennessee. In the 85th minute of a tied match, Frazier set up Treena Ferguson for the game-winner in what remains State's highest-ranked victory since that day.
Entering her junior year, the offensive expectations were set high.
"Bethany's probably the best attacking left wing back in the league," then head coach Neil MacDonald said at the time. "She does a great job of getting forward and getting into positions to cross the ball. She's also a very solid defender and a great competitor."
Expectations may have been high, but Frazier exceeded them. At the start of the campaign, she boasted six total points for her career. By the end of the year, she'd collected nine in 2007 alone. She led the team and finished tied for fourth in the SEC with seven assists. That mark still stands a junior class record and is tied for sixth-most in a single season.
She picked up multiple assists at Middle Tennessee in September, then did so again with assists on both goals in a 2-1 double-overtime victory against Rice a week later. She set up the game-winner three times that year, which remains tied for fourth in MSU single-season history.
The 2008 season saw Frazier post a pair of goals and a pair of assists while being one of just two field players to start every match. She finished her career with 21 career points, including five goals. Her 6,633 career minutes rank third all-time and her 75 starts are second in program history.
