STARKVILLE – "We all have passions in life, mine are just in a jar."
Passionate about travelling, art, and all things HGTV, Texan Grace Seymour, has a bright future ahead of her, but this pickle connoisseur is definitely not shy about her obsession.
"If you give me a pickle, I can bite it and tell you what brand it is." Seymour said. "My friends used to do that at lunch all the time in high school. They would give me a pickle in a plastic bag, and I would have to tell them where it came from. I was four for four."
To Seymour, some pickles are better than others. Whether it's a pickle to put on her sandwich, a pickle to eat by itself, or pickles by the jar, Seymour knows the occasions for different pickles. Although she has her favorite brands for each situation, she's especially fond of her $8 jars from Greece.
"My mom imports these pickles from Athens, Greece," she said. "They're so sour, but they're so good. My mouth is watering thinking about them. I buy them in bulk. That's a solid pickle right there because you know they're homemade. None of the jars taste the same. They're all relatively good, so you're not getting a bad jar. Some are just a little spicier than others, and that's okay. It's good to have a little zap."
Seymour also has a huge passion for travelling and has created her own travel blog. She said that her dream location to visit would be Greece because of all the beautiful scenery and architecture.
"I follow the whole Grecian royal family on Instagram," Seymour said. "I'm obsessed with them. I hope that the day that I finally decide to go to Greece I'll meet them, and they'll invite me to dinner."
Seymour's love of travel began when she was 12 years old, and her family started taking yearly trips. The joy that traveling has brought to her life has guided her to choose interior design as her major.
"This is the age when you start to think for yourself and make opinions on bigger things," Seymour said. "Whenever we went on our first trip is when I fell in love with traveling. I knew that whatever job I have eventually, I want travel to be incorporated."
She'd also like to take her interior design aspirations to HGTV. In the future, the defender hopes to flip houses and remodel them, but she doesn't have any particular HGTV host that she wants to embody.
"I'm the next Grace Seymour, I cannot be compared to."
The last signee in her recruiting class, Seymour weighed all of her options. With other offers on the table, she knew what she was looking for. It was just a matter of time before deciding that the Bulldogs were the right fit for her.
On her official visit, Seymour felt the family environment at Mississippi State that she still feels to this day. It was one of the factors that influenced her final decision. Coming from Texas and being far away from her family, she was looking for another place to call home. She found her new family with the Mississippi State soccer team.
"Going into my recruiting process, I think one of the reasons I didn't commit as early as I could've is because I was looking for the right coach," Seymour said. "The coach that would make me feel comfortable playing soccer. That's what they did. "
