Bulldogs Prepared For SEC Tipoff '20

STARKVILLE – As Mississippi State prepares for SEC Tipoff '20 on Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama, the league media picked the Bulldogs to finish third in the conference this season.
South Carolina and Texas A&M were selected ahead of State, as all three teams have been receiving preseason top-10 recognition from various outlets. MSU checked in ahead of Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee and Auburn as part of the top half of the league.
Mississippi State enters the 2019-20 season with its sights set on a third consecutive SEC title, a feat that no program has accomplished outright since 2001-04. The only programs to ever achieve the feat are Auburn (1987-89) and Tennessee (1993-95 & 2001-04).
MSU is coming off a 2018-19 campaign that saw the Bulldogs post a 15-1 conference record to clinch the second title in program history. State followed that up by winning the team's first ever SEC Tournament Championship with a commanding 101-70 victory over Arkansas.
As the Mississippi State prepares for the upcoming season, head coach Vic Schaefer will be accompanied by graduate Jordan Danberry and junior Chloe Bibby at SEC Tipoff '20 on Thursday morning. Schaefer, the reigning SEC and ESPNW Coach of the Year, and his players will run through the various media stops at the Grand Bohemian Hotel from 10:40 a.m.-12:35 p.m. CT.
The day will include interviews with ESPN, Sirius/XM and local, regional and national print media. The trio will also be live on SEC Now with host Alyssa Lang and analysts Steffi Sorensen, Andy Landers and Andraya Carter from 12-12:15 p.m. Fans can view the interview and other portions of media day on SEC Network.
Danberry, who earned a fifth year of eligibility from the NCAA in August, ranked third on the team in scoring (13.1 ppg) a year ago and was second in assists (125) and steals (65) after starting all 36 games. The Conway, Arkansas, native scored double figures in 13 of 16 SEC games and averaged 14.3 points during conference play last season. She ranked eighth in the league with a 1.47 assist/turnover ratio.
Before going down with a season-ending injury in January, Bibby was one of the most efficient 3-point shooters in the country. The Warracknabeal, Australia, native ranked No. 22 in the country and third in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting a 45-percent clip from beyond the arc, at the time of her injury. She recorded seven games with at least three 3-pointers and scored in double figures in 14 times for an average of 11.9 points per game.
Mississippi State hosts Lubbock Christian on Nov. 4 for an exhibition before officially opening the campaign at home on Nov. 9 against Southern Miss.
