TULSA, Okla. โย Mississippi State women's tennis wrapped up play at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thursday.
ย
The day opened for State with main draw doubles action which had been postponed due to heavy rains on Wednesday. After coming back from a 7-4 deficit to tie the match at 7-7, State's 14th-ranked duo of Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine fell in a tight tiebreaker 8-7(6) to UCF's fifth-seeded and seventh-ranked tandem of Ksenia Kuznetsova and Valeriya Zeleva in the first round.ย
Adaloglou and Racine went on to face 17th-ranked Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss in a back-and-forth consolation match that was also decided by a tiebreaker. Once again, State's pair rallied back from a break down to force the breaker, but were once again edged, this time in an 8-7(4) decision.
ย
Due to more rain in Tulsa, sophomore Emma Antonaki's consolation match against another top-30 opponent was moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. In yet another very close match, the 41st-ranked Antonaki ultimately fell to UCF's 29th-ranked Zeleva 6-4, 7-5.ย
ย
The Bulldogs will next travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to compete in the ITA Southern Regional Championships beginning Thursday, Oct. 17.
