STARKVILLE – All-American Jeffery Simmons' performance against Iowa in the 2019 Outback Bowl on New Year's Day was one of the best of his three-year Mississippi State career and earned him a spot on SI's All-Bowl Team.
Playing in his final game in Maroon and White, Simmons overcame double teams and made his way into the backfield throughout the day. In the first three plays of the game, the junior defensive tackle recorded a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. He finished with four total tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and a sack, despite the Bulldogs' (8-5) 27-22 setback.

The Macon, Mississippi, native racked up 17 tackles for loss in his third and final season with the Bulldogs, good for fourth in the Southeastern Conference this year and tied for third in MSU single-season history with All-American Johnie Cooks (1981).
For his career, Simmons totaled 163 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, seven pass breakups, five forced fumbles and three blocked kicks. He ranks sixth in MSU career history in tackles for loss.
