STARKVILLE – Chris Jones showed why he is an All-Pro defensive lineman when he batted three passes and pressured Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck four times last Saturday to help Kansas City beat the Colts 31-13 and advance to the AFC Championship Game.
Despite not collecting a sack, Jones was disruptive all day, earning an 84.3 overall grade and an 88.9 pass-rush grade from Pro Football Focus. Jones helped the Chiefs rack up 20 pressures on the afternoon against an Indianapolis offensive line that had allowed just 18 sacks on the year.
"We wanted to light up the city," Jones said during postgame interviews. "We didn't want to take the road down memory lane." With the victory Sunday, Jones fulfilled his promise to Chiefs fans from a year ago:
Kansas City is now just one victory at Arrowhead Stadium away from playing for a Super Bowl championship. The Chiefs will take on the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. The game will kick off at 5:40 p.m. CT on CBS.
Here's a look at the performances by the other three Mississippi State Bulldogs that were on active rosters in the divisional round this past weekend:
No. 1 Kansas City Chiefs 31, No. 6 Indianapolis Colts 13
Colts defensive tackle Denico Autry got the start and collected a sack and two tackles for loss. He finished with five total pressures, including a pair of hits on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, according to PFF.
No. 2 Los Angeles Rams 30, No. 4 Dallas Cowboys 22
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott passed for 266 yards and posted a 99.2 passer rating. He found the end zone both through the air and one the ground. His rushing TD gave him two for the postseason, the most by any Cowboys quarterback in franchise history during the playoffs.
No. 1 New Orleans Saints 20, No. 6 Philadelphia Eagles 14
Eagles All-Pro defensive tackle Fletcher Cox persevered through injury, leading Philadelphia with a 75.1 pass-rush grade and three quarterback hurries, while logging three total tackles. He earned an 80.0 overall grade for the game, per PFF. J.T. Gray is a member of the Saints' practice squad.
