Note: Every day this week, HailState.com will recognize a member of the 2018 Mississippi State Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018. The class will be formally inducted at a gala Friday (Sept. 28) night at the The Mill Conference Center and recognized during the MSU-Florida football game Saturday (Sept. 29) in Davis Wade Stadium. Festivities get underway at 7 p.m. Friday and will include a cocktail reception, private autograph signing, seated dinner and awards ceremony. Tickets are available for purchase at msumclub.org for $100 per person. Proceeds benefit the MSU M-Club Alumni Association.
Alexis Rack had a knack for lighting up the scoreboard, especially from three-point range.
Starring at guard from 2007-10 for Mississippi State's women's basketball team, Rack helped lead the Bulldogs to their first-ever trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2010. Additionally, her 340 three-point field goals made ranks not only at the top of MSU record books, but also at the top of the Southeastern Conference charts.
Rack displayed an uptick in scoring with the passing of each year, ultimately scoring in double-figures an incredible 90 times as a Bulldog.
In addition to ranking as the best Bulldog from beyond the arc, Rack ranks fourth all-time in scoring (1,756), seventh in field goals made (560) and fifth in shots attempted (1,647), eighth in free throws made (296) and fifth in free-throw percentage (76.5 percent).
Sure, she could score as well as any other player in the nation, but she was just as good creating scoring opportunities for her teammates, ranking fourth all-time in program history in assists (447). Defensively, Rack tallied 202 steals in her four seasons—good enough for sixth all-time in MSU lore.
Rack not only was one of the best to ever don the maroon and white, but she cemented herself as one of the best-ever to play college women's basketball in the state of Mississippi by becoming the first two-time winner of the CSpire Gillom Trophy.
One of the top moments in Rack's career came in non-conference action, when she poured on a career-high 43 points in State's 2009 84-55 victory over No. 20 Maryland, a team that had reached the Elite Eight the previous season.
After completing her career at MSU, Rack was selected 29th overall in the WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Stars in the third round. With her selection, Rack was the fifth Bulldog selected by a WNBA franchise in program history and was one of three MSU players selected that year behind Chanel Mokango and Armelie Lumanu.
While she will always be remembered as one of the all-time greatest women's basketball players in MSU history, Alexis Rack will now always be remembered as one of the greatest Bulldogs to ever compete in the maroon and White.

Upon her arrival at MSU prior to the 2006-07 season, the Franklin, Louisiana, native wasted little time in showing off how good she would eventually become for head coach Sharon Fanning-Otis' squad. Rack found herself in double-figure scoring on 17 occasions as a freshman, earning a unanimous selection to the 2007 SEC All-Freshman Team.If you look through the Bulldog women's basketball record book, one name will appear in virtually every category," M-Club President Bill Maxey said. "If you look for a figure that has impacted the game not only in the SEC, but on any and every court her sneakers have set foot, you see that name again. Should you ask for a role model while in school and someone who continued it after their playing days, that same name—Alexis Rack.
