COLUMBIA, S.C./CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Going undefeated on the doubles court is not a bad way to start off the fall.
That is exactly how Mississippi State's Trevor Foshey and Gregor Ramskogler began their fall campaigns this weekend at the 2018 Gamecock Fall Invitational, taking a pair of matches on Sunday to capture the Flight A Doubles crown.
"Very positive start to the season for these two," assistant coach Andrew Goodwin said. "The energy and passion they played with is exactly what we need to continue to progress through this season. Hail State!"
The duo started the day with an 8-5 triumph over SMU's Tomas Vaise and Jan-Simon Vrbsky in the semifinals before taking a 9-8(4) tiebreak thriller against Georgia State's Giles Hussey and Jack MacFarlane.
En route to taking the doubles title, the 2018 SEC Tournament MVP Foshey helped guide the rookie Ramskogler through his first taste of college tennis. Prior to Sunday, the tandem had knocked off Georgia Southern's Martjin Kerssens and Antonio Muniz followed by a victory against Southeastern Conference foes Scott Jones and Adam Walton of Tennessee.
The senior Foshey went a combined 7-1 on the weekend, including the perfect 4-0 mark in doubles. Foshey's lone loss came to host South Carolina's Yancy Dennis on Friday in the Round of 16 in the Flight A singles draw.
To round out MSU's weekend competition in Charlottesville at the 2018 UVA Masters, State's 43rd-ranked Strahinja Rakic closed out his weekend dropping a tough 7-5, 6-3 decision to Kentucky's No. 76 Enzo Wallart in an extra backdraw match.

Next, the Bulldogs will prepare for one of the top tournaments of the year—the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The week-long tournament, featuring the top talent in Division I college tennis, runs from Oct. 1-8.
