When his final tour with the Mississippi State men's golf program comes to a close at the end of 2019, Ross Bell's impact on the community will be far from forgotten. Throughout high school and college, Bell has enjoyed giving back to his community. Helping others has always been important to this Madison, Mississippi, native.
Â
"My family has always made it a priority that we help others by giving back, and that we are a positive influence in people's lives," said Bell.
Â
Bell has volunteered at the T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability located on the Mississippi State campus. He has taken part in the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign as a bell ringer. The senior also donated his time to causes like the Breakfast of Champions, MSU's Big Event, Read Across America, United We Feed and Greek Week's Food Drive.
Â
As a veteran, Bell is expected to step up and be a leader to set the example for his younger teammates, having been successful in the classroom and the community. Being an upperclassman means that he has endured many hurdles that his younger Bulldog teammates will face, and he will be able to help guide them through it.
Â
"[Head] Coach [Dusty] Smith trusts me as far as being responsible and having a good head on my shoulders," Bell said. "I would definitely say that he trusts me to lead these guys. I know that he likes to see me push them and show them the dos and don'ts, as well as how they can be successful."
Â
During his collegiate career in Starkville, Bell has earned the accolades of making the SEC Academic Honor Roll and being named to the SEC Community Service Team three times each. Bell is only one of nine Golf Dawgs in program history to be been named to the SEC Community Service Team.
Â
Bell, already a graduate from Mississippi State's College of Business, also has bigger plans after his playing career wraps up. He recently obtained his Accounting degree in August 2018 and is pursuing his second degree in Business Administration with his sights set becoming a certified public accountant.
Â
"I just enjoy helping others, and I always have. I hope that when college is over, that I can find something where I am always helping others," Bell said.
