Bulldog Men Rise Three Spots in Latest Rankings

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State's men's track and field program will enter the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., as the No. 16 team in latest USTFCCCA Rankings.
MSU climbed three spots after last week's East Prelims. The Bulldogs are tied for eighth with 10 entries traveling to Oregon. Eight SEC teams have 10 or more entries at the championships. No conference has more ranked teams.
"I was very proud of our athletes last week," head coach Steve Dudley said. "With plenty of pressure on them, they found ways to advance to the NCAA Championships."
The Bulldogs will have three athletes in the 400m hurdles and a pair of athletes in both the javelin and 800m.
MSU's 400m hurdlers have an opportunity to make NCAA history as no men's team has ever put three athletes in the finals of that event.
The Bulldog javelin duo of Anderson Peters and Nicolas Quijera took first and second at the East Prelims last weekend. Peters, the SEC Freshman Field Athlete of the Year and SEC Champion, was the top qualifier.
In the 800m, Marco Arop broke his freshman record over the weekend to post the fastest qualifying time in the East. Dejon Devroe will join him in Eugene.
Bulldogs will also compete in the 110m hurdles (Ro'Derick Spears), 100m (Karson Kowalchuk) and 4x400m relay.
