STARKVILLE, Miss. – In his first season as head coach of Mississippi State men's golf, Dusty Smith has his team in the 2018 NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
MSU will play May 14-16 in the Bryan Regional at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, in the program's first NCAA appearance since 2014.
"Our guys showed toughness and resiliency all year and it's nice to see them rewarded for it," MSU men's golf coach Dusty Smith said. "I am just so happy for the guys."
The Bryan Regional is composed of 13 teams, including Baylor, Clemson, Kentucky, UCLA, Ole Miss, South Carolina, San Francisco, Georgia, UNC-Wilmington, Northern Colorado, Bradley and hosts Texas A&M. State is the 10th seed in the regional.
A total of 30 teams and six individuals will advance from regional sites to the national championships to be played May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
State's regular season ended on a high note, with four consecutive Top 5 finishes, before finishing 12th in its first taste of postseason play at the SEC Championship. MSU collected six Top 5s over the season, and the 30-under 834 at the Bighorn Invitational was the third-best finish in program history and the best since 2013.
MSU's last NCAA Championships appearance came at Rich Harvest Farms, Sugar Grove, Illinois, when the team finished 12th out of 14 teams.

"I'm excited for this next step in our process. Our guys showed toughness and resiliency all year and it's nice to see them rewarded for it. I am just so happy for the guys. They are the ones who go out and compete week in and week out. Nothing is going to change for us. We are going to stick to our process. We control what the ending of our story will be. We're looking forward to the next week of preparation."
