Bulldogs Third After Two Rounds At Dale McNamara Invite

TULSA, Okla. – A season-low opening round led to a solid second round as the Mississippi State women's golf team wrapped Monday in third place at the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Okla.
The Bulldogs opened play at the Tulsa Country Club with a 4-over 284. They followed that showing with a 302 that put them in third place heading into Tuesday's final round.
"I was very excited about what we saw today, Brown-Lemm said. "These girls are learning and growing in every round. I think it showed them that they can play with top teams and be successful. We have work left to be done with the final round tomorrow and the SEC Championship left this season, and we will continue to build."
Freshman Blair Stockett led the Bulldog charge, tying for sixth with a 4-over 144. The Jackson, Miss., native was hot from the start, finishing round one with an even-par 70, a new personal low. She finished the day with a 74 for her final 18 holes.
After opening play with a 75, Teri Doss fought her way back up the leaderboard in the afternoon, carding a 72 to wrap Monday tied for 12th with a 7-over 147.
Junior Katie Holt fired a 70 in Monday's opening 18 holes to find herself in the Top 20 in a tie for 18th with a 149 after carding a 79 in the second round.
Sophomore Athena Yang used a 3-over 73 in the first round and a 77 in the afternoon to position herself right outside the Top 20 in a tie for 21st. Freshman Aubree Jones shot a 71 to open the tournament but found the going tough in the afternoon to finish the day tied for 35th with a 154.
MSU looks to close the regular season strong as it hits the links for final-round play Tuesday morning.
