STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's basketball team will celebrate a historic 2017-18 season at the team's annual Hail State Hoops awards banquet on Monday, April 16.
A limited number of seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis for the event that will be held at The Mill Conference Center at Mississippi State beginning at 6 p.m. Cost for the banquet is $25 per person.
Fans can call the MSU women's basketball office at (662) 325-0198 or e-mail dbrown@athletics.msstate.edu to RSVP. Tickets will not be sold on the day of the banquet.
In addition to handing out team awards, head coach Vic Schaefer, his staff and players will recap the best season in program history, one that saw the Bulldogs win a school-record 37 games, capture the program's first SEC championship and advance to the national championship game for the second-straight year.
The Bulldogs recorded the first undefeated regular season by an SEC team in 20 years and opened the season winning 32-straight games, the second-longest win streak in league history. In addition to winning the SEC title, MSU advanced to a third-straight SEC Tournament title game before claiming its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Schaefer's squad defeated NC State and UCLA to win the Kansas City Regional and went on to defeat Louisville to advance to the national championship game for the second time in as many years.
State also made more history at the turnstiles, as it drew a school-record and nation's sixth-most 133,906 fans to Humphrey Coliseum this season. The Bulldogs averaged an NCAA Division I seventh-best 7,439 fans per game, and they recorded seven of the Top 10 crowds in school history, including a Humphrey Coliseum-record 10,794 for a Feb. 5 win against South Carolina.
