STARKVILLE, Miss. – Kicking off postseason play, the 30th-ranked and seventh-seeded Mississippi State's women's tennis team (15-9) matches up with 39th-ranked and 10th-seeded LSU (14-9) in the second round of the SEC Championship Thursday morning, the tournament opener for both teams. The match is slated for an 8 a.m. CT start at Tennessee's Barksdale Stadium.

"We are all excited about another opportunity to compete," head coach Daryl Greenan said. "We had plenty of highlights this season and the girls are hungry to finish strong in post season play."

10th-seeded LSU split its final weekend of conference play on the road, defeating Alabama 4-3 before falling at Auburn 4-2. The Tigers boast four ranked singles players in No. 65 Elyse Lavender, No. 78 Jessica Golovin, No. 80 Eden Richardson and No. 112 Ryann Foster. In doubles, Golovin teams with Richardson to form the nation's 37th-ranked doubles tandem.
