Grimwood Leads Bulldogs After Round 2 In Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Ela Grimwood paced the Mississippi State women's golf team again in the second round of the Evans Derby Experience shooting a 1-over 73 to sit in a tie for 38th.
"I feel like I played very consistent golf today," Grimwood said. "I think the course suits the way I play. That, paired with the fact I was hitting the ball well made me feel confident going into the first rounds. I hope that we have a great final round Tuesday."
The Bulldog lineup matched its first-round tally of a 14-over 302 on Monday. Third-ranked Arkansas leads the talented field after day two behind a 9-under 280.
Katie Holt wrapped the second round with a 3-over 75, while Athena Yang carded a 76 and Clara Moyano a 78.
Aubree Jones ended Monday with an 81.
Individual Blaise Carabello had a season-low 72 on Monday. She sits in a tie for 42nd headed into the final round.
"I just tried to stay in the present moment and hit the best shots I could hit," said Carabello.
Also playing as an individual, Kendall Wisenbaker fired a 77.
MSU begins the final round Tuesday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Fans can follow live on golfstat.com
