
MSU's Blair Schaefer Named To SEC Community Service Team

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Throughout her career, Blair Schaefer has been dedicated to serving the Starkville community that has embraced the Mississippi State senior, her family and the Bulldog basketball program.
That devotion to serving the community has earned the guard a third-straight selection to the SEC Community Service Team.
Since coming to Mississippi State, Schaefer has been very active in community service events, and she also serves as one the women's basketball SAAC representative and a member of the SEC Basketball Student-Athlete Leadership Council.
An active member of MSU's M-Club student-athlete service organization, Schaefer has assisted with the T.K. Martin Fun Run, an event benefitting MSU's T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability. Schaefer and her teammates have also judged the talent show for Camp Jigsaw, a camp at MSU for youth with autism.
The Starkville native has been a regular participant during her career at Bully's Book Blitz, an initiative where Bulldog student-athletes go to local schools to encourage students on the value of reading.
She has also been actively involved with Chick-Fil-A Family Night and Starkville School District's Breakfast of Champions, a pair of events that encourage local youth to pursue healthy living and active lifestyles.
Schaefer has volunteered with the Special Olympics, the MSU M-Club's bottle water drive for those affected by the Louisiana floods and the Miss MSU's Colleges Against Cancer 5K.
In addition, she has also been part of the Starkville School District's Walk to School Day, Henderson Elementary's Perfect Attendance Party/Behavior Bash and Step Up For Kids.
The biological sciences major has been a standout in the classroom as well, earning SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades her first three seasons on campus.
Schaefer has also enjoyed her best year on the court, averaging 9.9 ppg on the year and 11.0 ppg in SEC play as the Bulldogs won the program's first SEC regular-season championship with a 28-0 overall record and 14-0 league mark.
In conference play, Schaefer has made a league-best 3.0 3-pointers per game while scoring the triple at a league fifth-best 44.7-percent rate.
For her career, Schaefer rates third in MSU history from 3-point range 38.3-percent conversion rate.
