MSU Women’s Basketball Rises in Both National Polls

EUGENE, Ore. – With its second top-10 matchup of the year just hours away, Mississippi State's women's basketball program continued its rise in the national polls. The Bulldogs checked in at No. 4, climbing one spot, in the USA Today Coaches' poll on Tuesday.
On Monday, the Bulldogs landed at No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 as well, extending its ranking streak to 81 consecutive weeks. State has been in the Top 10 for 45 straight weeks, the fourth-longest streak in the nation. MSU and Kentucky are the only schools to have their football, men's basketball and women's basketball teams all ranked in the AP poll.
The Bulldogs will face No. 7/7 Oregon on Tuesday night with tipoff set for 9 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The top two offenses in the country will meet in Eugene as Oregon averages 92.4 points per game with the Bulldogs right behind them at 92.3 ppg. However, State ranks fourth in the nation scoring defense (50.3 ppg) for the country's best scoring margin (+42.0).
Individually, Jazzmun Holmes leads the nation in assist/turnover ratio (6.11) and is third in the SEC in assists per game (5.5). Over the last three games, she is averaging 7.0 assists, 1.0 turnover, 2.3 steals and 14.3 points while shooting 50.0 percent from the field (12-of-24) and going 13-of-14 from the free throw line.
Following Tuesday's contest, the Bulldogs will travel north to Seattle to face Washington on Thursday night at 9 p.m.
