STARKVILLE – Mississippi State senior Carly Mauldin has earned Third Team All-Southeast Region honors from United Soccer Coaches.
Mauldin's award marks the fourth selection in the past two seasons under head coach Tom Anagnost. She was a key piece of State's push for its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history this year.
"Carly is ultra-committed in her preparations and training and has really improved," Anagnost said. "Carly is the heart and soul of the team. She has a very high standard for herself teammates and is our leader on the field."
The senior midfielder from Laurel, Mississippi, started every match for MSU over her four years in Starkville. She closed her career tied for seventh in school history with 72 starts. Her 6,545 career minutes are fifth all-time.
Mauldin was tied for third on the team with four goals this year, despite entering the season with just one career tally. Her nine points this year were a career best and tied for fourth on the team.
"It's so awesome to see my name on the all-region list," Mauldin said. "All the countless hours of training have paid off. I've been blessed to play around some of the best players out there. They have pushed me to get better, and I thank them for that! I'm more than thankful to end my college career this way."
To close her career, Mauldin also picked up Second Team All-SEC honors and scored a goal against Central Arkansas with a diving header that was the ESPNW No. 1 play of the week. She scored twice against Alabama for her first multi-goal game and played the full match nine times this year.
