MSU Records 42nd-Straight Week In AP Top 10

STARKVILLE – A perfect four-game homestand that saw Mississippi State reach the century mark in each contest kept the Bulldogs No. 6 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The Bulldogs notched their 42nd consecutive week in the Top 10, the fourth-longest active streak in the nation. State has been ranked in the poll 78 weeks in a row, the sixth-longest current run among Division I squads.
Mississippi State improved to 6-0 on the season as it defeated Furman 106-41 and Jackson State 105-38 last week. MSU scored 100-plus points in four straight games for the first time in program history.
Vic Schaefer's squad ranks in the Top 15 nationally in 17 statistical categories, including boasting the nation's second-best offense (97.5 ppg) and fourth-lowest scoring defense (44.5 ppg).
State also ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage (52.6 percent), third in rebounding (50.0 rpg), ninth in turnover margin (+10.8), sixth in assists (22.0 apg) and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.7).
Vic Schaefer's squad is the highest raked of five SEC teams in the poll. Tennessee comes in at No. 11, followed by Texas A&M (17), South Carolina (18) and Kentucky (25).
Mississippi State joins Texas and Kentucky as the only Division I programs to be ranked in the AP football, men's basketball and women's basketball polls.

Mississippi State hits the road Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. tilt at Little Rock. The Bulldogs then head to Austin to face No. 10 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
Sunday's game at Texas will be broadcast nationally on FS1.
