PELHAM, Ala. – Gregor Ramskogler notched a pair of singles victories on Sunday at the Samford Fall Invite to close out his first fall at Mississippi State.
The freshman from Austria won both of his singles matches on Day 3 of the tourney in exciting, three-set fashion. Ramskogler first downed Lucas de Torres Curth of Kennesaw State 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(5) before topping Presbyterian's Alberto Conde by a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0(7) mark.
Sophomore Stedman Strickland dropped both of his singles matches on the day, first to Alejo Calvis of Alabama State by a 6-4, 6-3 mark before falling to Presbyterian's Vance Mercer in a 6-3, 6-1 decision.
In doubles, Ramskogler and Strickland dropped a hard-fought 6-4 decision to Presbyterian's Jonathan Bedard and Elias Svensson.
Next Up For MSU …
Nuno Borges will close out MSU's fall slate by playing in the 2018 USTA Futures tournament in Pensacola, Florida, held Nov. 13-18 at the Roger Scott Tennis Center. Borges, currently the No. 506 player in the world, enters Tuesday's main draw as the second-seeded player in the 32-player draw. He will face Chenhe Li in the first round, with time to be determined.
