STARKVILLE, Miss. – A 17-0 start and 3-0 opening to SEC play have Mississippi State once again No. 3 in the latest USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll released Tuesday.
The Bulldogs jumped out to the third-best start in program history with a 111-69 home victory against Arkansas, the most points ever for MSU in an SEC game, and an 83-70 road triumph at LSU on Sunday.
After opening league play 3-0 for the fourth-straight year, the Bulldogs claimed their 63rd-straight week in the Coaches Poll.
State claimed the highest ranking of the five league teams in the poll. Tennessee and South Carolina also landed in the Top 10 and Nos. 6 and 8, respectively. Missouri moved up to No. 13 while Texas A&M climbed to 16th.
Mississippi State returns to Humphrey Coliseum Thursday to host in-state rival Ole Miss at 8 p.m. on the SEC Network. The contest will be StarkVegas Night, with fans encouraged to wear black.
