
MSU No. 3 In USA Today Coaches Poll; Clear Bag Policy Begins Thursday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After starting 2018 No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, Mississippi State women's basketball begins the year with another week at No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
State earned a 62nd-straight week in the poll after defeating Mississippi Valley State and Georgia to improve to 15-0 on the season, 1-0 in SEC play.
Vic Schaefer's squad owns the highest rank among the five SEC teams in the poll. South Carolina and Tennessee follow at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively. Missouri sits at No. 15, while Texas A&M comes in at No. 19.
State opens home SEC action Thursday, hosting Arkansas at 8 p.m. on the SEC Network. In addition to Blair Schaefer Senior Night, the game will also be the first women's basketball contest with the clear bag policy in place.
Under the policy, the following bags will be permitted into Humphrey Coliseum:
Fans are asked to leave all prohibited non-clear bags, purses and clutches at home or in their vehicle.
The policy prohibits bags or purses larger than a clutch, briefcases, backpacks, cinch bags, fanny packs, diaper bags that are not clear and/or exceed the size restriction, luggage of any kind, computer bags/cases, camera bags, binocular cases or any bag larger than permissible size. Hand-held items such as cameras, infant care items, books and computers are allowed as long as they are in an approved clear bag and properly screened.
On Wednesday, Vic Schaefer will take questions from fans during the first DawgTalk of the season. Fans are invited to The Veranda for the 2-hour season premiere. An hour with Ben Howland begins at 7 p.m., with Schaefer taking the air from 8-9.

- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag.
