State Wraps Up First Action Of 2018 In Birmingham On Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A solid first week of competition is in the books for the Mississippi State indoor track and field squad, as it wrapped up weekend action in Birmingham with the Vulcan Invite on Saturday.
While Friday's top results came on the track, Saturday saw State's field athletes shine.
The Bulldogs were paced by All-American Tiffany Flynn, who took the women's triple jump crown.
After placing second in the weight throw on Friday, Brianna Smith replicated the feat on Saturday with a throw of 20.43m.
Willie Reed finished fifth in the men's long jump, while Alexis Farley placed seventh in the women's event. Reed also finished fourth in the 60m hurdles after running the third-best time in the preliminaries.
On the track, MSU's Katherine Badham and Alex Wallace placed second and third in the women's 3K run.
Additionally, Bulldog track and field alum Ffion Price took the 800-meters crown by running a Vulcan Invite record 2:09.79.
The Bulldogs are back in action at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville on Jan. 19.
