Bulldogs Save Best Round For Last At The Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – In the final day of the Schooner Fall Classic, the Mississippi State women's golf team fired its best score of the event, a 7-over 291, behind stellar play from freshman Aubree Jones.
In what is starting to be the norm for the freshman star, Jones again led the Bulldogs in round three as she fired a 1-under 70 to finish the event tied for 21st with an even-par 213.
Jones got off to a quick start with a birdie on her third hole, and she ended her front nine strong with back-to-back birdies to make the turn 2-under. She added another birdie on No. 2 before wrapping her round with another on the ninth.
Athena Yang carded a 2-over 73 for the third-straight day to finish tied for 41st with a 219. After opening with back-to-back 76s, Clara Moyano had her best round as a Bulldog on Monday with an even-par 71. The newcomer notched a 223 over three days to tie for 55th.
Redshirt senior Blaise Carabello followed consecutive 77s with another on Monday to wrap her return to the lineup in a tie for 72nd with a 231. Teri Doss finished a spot back in 74th with a 232 after firing a final-round 78.
After struggling in Sunday's second round, Kendall Wisenbaker closed her individual action in fine form as she notched a 72 to finish tied for 47th with a 220.
The three days of competition against some outstanding teams helped Mississippi State prepare to return home to host the Magnolia Invitational Oct. 1-3 at prestigious Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss.
Admission to the 10-team event is free.
