From State to Sundays - Week Two Update
September 19, 2017 | Football
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Week Two of the NFL season has come to a close, and it is time to take a look at how the 17 former Bulldogs who have gone #FromStateToSundays fared.
Chris Jones earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors after he had a dominant performance against Philadelphia on Sunday, recording three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. Jones is just the second player in NFL history to record those numbers after James Harrison in 1994. The second-year lineman also collected four tackles and knocked down a pass in the Kansas City win.
Benardrick McKinney also recorded multiple sacks, leading the Houston defense to allow just nine points in their win against Cincinnati. McKinney became just the fifth player in Texans history to record six tackles, three tackles-for-loss and 2.0 sacks in a game. Denico Autry, Fletcher Cox and Preston Smith also brought down their opposing quarterbacks in Week Two.
With his first two pass attempts on Sunday, Dak Prescott became the only quarterback to have fewer than five interceptions in his first 500 pass attempts. Prescott went on to complete 30 of 50 attempts against a stout Denver defense.
On September 12, Indianapolis signed linebacker Johnathan Calvin to their practice squad. Calvin joins receiver Fred Brown on the Colts practice squad, and both are first-year players.
