STARKVILLE, Miss. โ Coming off an impressive start to open the season with a win at the Golden Eagle Invitational, No. 24 Mississippi State is back in action Saturday at the Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Ala.
ย
The men's 8K is slated to begin at 8 a.m., followed by the women at 8:45 a.m.
ย
"Like all sports, you're looking to get better each time out," said MSU coach Houston Franks, whose team is ranked No. 2 in the South Region. "We've had ideal weather to train the last two weeks, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that translates this weekend. We've had a few injuries to deal with, and I want to see who is going to step up and show what they are capable of doing."
ย
After sitting out the first meet, junior Shannon Fair is making her debut this weekend.
ย
She will be joined by Stephanie Peterson, Kristy Terp, Audrey Honiotes, Katherine Badham and Emma Tucker, all who finished in the Top 10 at the Falcon Classic. Peterson, a sophomore from Chattanooga, placed second with a time of 18:54.9.
ย
After Saturday, MSU is off for two weeks before competing at the Paul Short Invitational in Allentown, Penn.
