STARKVILLE, Miss. – A trio of Bulldogs was named to the 2017 Southeastern Conference Preseason Watch List, the league announced on Wednesday.
Mallory Eubanks, Carly Mauldin and Catalina Perez were named to the list compiled by the league's coaches.
Eubanks and Mauldin were selected for the second straight season, while Perez's selection is her first.
"All three of these players exemplify who we want to represent Mississippi State soccer and we are very proud of them," coach Tom Anagnost said.
Mauldin has led the team in minutes played in the two seasons she has been on campus, tallying 1,663 as a freshman in 2015 and 1,653 in 2016. Over the summer, she played for Motor City FC in the Women's Premier Soccer League alongside some of the best players in college soccer.
Eubanks returns for her senior season after leading the team in points (9), goals (3), assists (3), shots (37) and shots on goal (23) a year ago and earning a spot on the 2016 All-SEC second team. She spent time with the United States U-23 Women's National Team in the spring, seeing action against the National Women's Soccer League's Houston Dash, Portland Thorns and Chicago Red Stars.
While this is Perez's first season at MSU, the goalkeeper performed well when called upon during the three seasons she played at the University of Miami (Fla.). In 18 games played, she amassed 57 saves. The Boca Raton, Fla. native has also performed at the international level, earning five appearances in goal for the Colombian Women's National Team in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The Bulldogs will open the season on Friday, Aug. 18 against Stephen F. Austin. First kick at the MSU Soccer Field is set for 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to help the Bulldogs set a new single-game attendance record. Admission is free. The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+ via WatchESPN or the WatchESPN app.
