EUGENE, Oregon – After redshirting the 2016 season, 2015 1500m Champion Rhianwedd Price is back in Eugene and will look to defend her crown in Saturday's final at 5:41 p.m. CT.
Price posted a season-best time of 4:12.07 in Thursday's preliminary round, which was the best non-automatic qualifying time at the event and secured her spot in the final round.
"Rhian did what she needed to do today," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "Now we are excited to see her compete again on Saturday and hopefully bring another national championship to Mississippi State."
Senior Leah Lott took grabbed an 18th place finish in the long jump competition Thursday, leaping 6.01m.
"I am happy for Leah in earning the opportunity to compete on this stage," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "She has had a great career as a Bulldog, and has continued to improve every single season and has really bought in. That paid off for her, and she had the best season of her career as a senior."
The Bulldogs will return to the track on Saturday, with Logan Boss competing in the high jump, Tiffany Flynn in the triple jump and Rhianwedd Price competing in the final round of the 1500m.
