Pichaikool Receives NCAA Regional Bid

STARKVILLE, Miss – One day after being named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, Mississippi State men's golfer Peng Pichaikool earned the number one individual seed in the NCAA Baton Rouge (La.) Regional on Thursday.
"I am proud to be representing the Mississippi State golf team, to be representing my coaches, my family and my teammates. I am pretty proud of that," Pichaikool said.
The 54-hole regional will be played May 15-17 at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La., and hosted by fellow SEC member LSU.
Pichaikool is the first Bulldog to earn an NCAA Regional bid since the 2014 squad finished 12th at the Sugar Grove Regional in Illinois. He is the first MSU golfer to claim an individual spot in a regional since Chad Ramey in 2012 and the first freshman.
The Thailand native joined MSU in January and in seven tournaments notched a 70.4 scoring average and five Top-15 finishes, including four in the Top 10.
Pichaikool ended the year with Top-10 showings in his last three events. After tying for second at the Lone Star Invitational, he tied for fourth at the MSU-hosted Old Waverly Collegiate Championship and seventh at the SEC Championship.
