
Bulldogs prepare for Friday showdown against No. 7 Texas A&M at 3 p.m.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The 18th-ranked Mississippi State men's tennis team (15-5, 6-2 SEC) prepares for its final home weekend of the season as the Bulldogs host seventh-ranked Texas A&M (16-4, 9-0 SEC) on Friday to kick off Super Bulldog Weekend festivities.
First serve between the Bulldogs and Aggies is set for 3 p.m. CT at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Live stats and video will be provided at www.hailstate.com/livemt.
"We're excited for another opportunity to face a top 10 opponent on Friday," head coach Matt Roberts said. "Texas A&M has a great team and this will be a fun matchup, but we look at every team we face as an equal opportunity to improve and get better. We've had great crowds this season and I know they'll be out in full-force again with Super Bulldog Weekend."
The men's tennis squad will be the first event of Super Bulldog Weekend, with baseball and softball each beginning at 6 p.m. CT. More information on the weekend's festivities can be found here.
MSU enters Friday's match following a rout over Tennessee last Saturday at home. The Bulldogs began the match by clinching the doubles point over the Vols then used wins from No. 4 Nuno Borges, Mate Cutura, No. 122 Strahinja Rakic, Trevor Foshey and Vaughn Hunter to cap MSU's 6-1 victory.
This Friday, the Bulldogs will go with a familiar lineup of Borges, Cutura, Rakic, Niclas Braun, Giovanni Oradini and Foshey in singles play. In doubles, MSU will be lead by No. 21 Braun and Foshey, with the senior duo of Cutura and Hunter at No. 2 and the tandem of Borges and Rakic closing out the order at No. 3.
Who To Watch For MSU
Fans will be treated to a top-10 matchup in singles play as No. 4 Borges will face off against TAMU's No. 8 Arthur Rinderknech. Borges is 20-9 all-time against ranked foes and is 2-1 this season versus top-10 players.
Previewing The Aggies
TAMU is 16-4 this season and lead the SEC with a 9-0 record in league play. More impressively, the Aggies have won 15 out of their last 16 matches with an upset of No. 2 Ohio State topping their list of ranked wins.
Who To Watch For Texas A&M
The Aggies have three ranked players in singles action, with the aforementioned No. 8 Rinderknech leading the way. No. 58 Jordi Arconada and No. 123 AJ Catanzarti join Rinderknceh to form the ranked Aggie trio. In doubles play, Rinderknech makes up the 48th and 77th ranked doubles teams in the country, alongside partners Max Lunkin and Catanzariti.
