Spencer Price Placed On NCBWA 2017 Stopper Of the Year Midseason Watch List

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Leading all of Division I baseball in saves this season with 14, Mississippi State sophomore Spencer Price has been named to the Midseason Watch List for the 13th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award.
With the college baseball season shifting towards the backstretch, 40 of the sports top relief pitchers were named to the watch list, members of the NCBWA announced Wednesday.
With a nation-leading 14 saves this season, Price was not on the Preseason Watch List, but his performance thus far in 2017 has turned heads. Price has the best ERA among the No. 7 Bulldogs with a 2.10 mark through 25.2 innings pitched, with 34 strikeouts and a .172 opposing batting average.
Price and the rest of the Diamond Dawgs will retake the field on Friday to open a three-game Southeastern Conference series vs. No. 5 Auburn from Dudy Noble Field in Starkville.
