Bulldogs Stay No. 5 In AP Poll Heading To The Duel In The Desert

STARKVILLE, Miss. –After conquering Oregon in a Top-10 matchup and tallying a 40-point victory against Maine, the Mississippi State women's basketball team remained at No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The Bulldogs improved to 11-0 for the second-straight year and the third time in the last four seasons. They remain one of eight unbeaten teams nationally.
State claimed its 62nd-straight week in the poll, the seventh-longest active streak in the country. The Bulldogs' 26-consecutive weeks in the Top 10 rates fifth nationally.
Against Oregon, who fell to No. 10 in this week's poll, junior Teaira McCowan and senior Victoria Vivians scored 35 and 30 points, respectively, becoming the first duo in the country to score 30+ points against a ranked opponent in this millennium.
McCowan secured her third-straight double-double and seventh of the season against the Black Bears, scoring 18 points and collecting 11 rebounds.
Next up for MSU is the Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas, Nev. The Bulldogs face host UNLV on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. CT and Syracuse on Thursday, also at 4:30 p.m. CT.
The radio broadcast for both games will be carried in the MSU Radio Network and can be streamed at hailstate.com/plus. Jason Crowder and Charlie Winfield will be on the call.

Syracuse is receiving votes in this week's AP Poll and will be the sixth opponent State has faced either ranked or receiving votes.
Following the Christmas holiday, the Bulldogs will return to the Humphrey Coliseum to face Mississippi Valley State on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m. Fans will be able to purchase tickets and hot dogs for only $1 as a part of the Dollar Night promotion.
